Barratt Redrow deal could see 800 jobs lost
Around 800 jobs could be lost following Barratt’s £2.54bn deal to buy rival house builder Redrow.
Detailed bid documents show the merged business will see a reduction in total employees of around 10%.
Barratt currently employs 6,000 people and Redrow 2,300.
The firms said: “This reduction is intended to come from employees and management, overlapping central and support functions and divisions affected by the rationalisation programme as a result of the combination.
“Following completion, Barratt intends to retain the best talent of Barratt and Redrow.”
It is understood that job cuts will not affect site based staff.
A review of both firms’ office network will also be undertaken with around nine set to close.
Barratt currently has 29 divisional offices and Redrow has 12 offices across the country.
