Renaker submits £300m plan for Manchester’s tallest tower

Manchester developer and builder Ranaker has submitted plans for the city’s tallest tower containing over 640 flats.

The 71-storey tower, already nicknamed the ‘Lighthouse’ because of its distinctive lantern-style glazing on the upper six floors, will top out Ranaker’s Great Jackson Street cluster.

Designed by SimpsonHaugh Architects, the 213m tall skyscraper will feature a public restaurant on its 71st floor. Below the top glazed floors the cladding with feature a distinctive chequered pattern.

The cost of building the project has been put at £234m for a final development value of £300m

This application was submitted at the same time as a planning application for the Crown Street Phase 3 development nearby.

Plans submitted cover four plots that will be built out with further towers, two around 47 storeys and two 51 storeys linking the Deansgate and Crown Street clusters.

These will provide for nearly 1,750 flats with lower level commercial space. Taken together the quartet of towers are expected to cost over £570m to build.
