Heart Presenter Climbs Blackpool Tower to Kickstart Make Some Noise Campaign
HEART PRESENTER, Amanda Holden recently climbed the iconic Blackpool Tower with the support of Arco Professional Safety Services to officially kickstart Global’s Make Some Noise Campaign.
This year marks the tenth installment of the annual week of charity challenges, composed of the biggest and bravest trials so far.
Charity Climb
With the guidance of working at height specialists Arco Professional Safety Services, Amanda began the week of challenges in Blackpool, where she climbed to the top of the landmark tower, which stands at 518ft, before hitting a celebratory buzzer to recognise the achievement.
This marks the third occasion that Arco has climbed the Blackpool Tower, previously capturing 360° images of the annual Red Arrows flyover at Blackpool Airshow whilst attached to the summit of the structure. Returning a year later, Arco captured the moment the Red Arrows flew over with Wing Commander Adam Collins in August 2023.
Russ Edwards, Bartek Biela and Jack Ball, training instructors at Arco, along with Training Manager Steve Dawson, facilitated the climb and guided Amanda safely to the top of the tower. As the lead instructor for this event, Russ was responsible for training Amanda in personal fall-protection equipment and working at height prior to the event and guided her up the tower, with Bartek capturing the event on camera.
Arco Training Instructor, Russ Edwards, said: “Though this was the third instance that we’ve conquered the climb of Blackpool Tower, it’s always an incredibly exciting opportunity with some phenomenal views waiting for us at the top. This time we also had the added benefit of escorting Amanda to the top all while supporting a great cause, a privileged responsibility that we were proud to accept.”
The feat was broadcast live from 8am on Heart, with the Britain’s Got Talent judge completing the challenge by the 9am target.
Global’s Make Some Noise campaign works with small charities across the UK. The campaign works across four key areas: providing shelter and safety, supporting physical and mental health, improving life skills, and preventing isolation.
