Glencar bags £30m Cambridge lab and office job

Glencar is to build a £30m office and lab project at Chesterford Research Park near Cambridge.

The 60,000 sq ft Sidney Sussex is designed by architect BCRI and will sit within the 250-acre parkland Cambridge life sciences cluster.

Sustainability is at the core of the design, with renewable energy sources, efficient structural uses, and daylighting strategies to minimise carbon emissions.

Construction work is just getting underway with project completion anticipated by October 2025.

Three-storey building will be built in the east of the Park to meet the high demand for life science space in the Cambridge Cluster

Glencar CEO Eddie McGillycuddy said: “We are absolutely delighted to be part of Chesterford’s ambitious expansion plans.

“This project is not only a testament to our growing expertise in life sciences construction but also a significant addition to our portfolio, following other successful projects we have delivered and are delivering currently at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus.”

The Chesterford Research Park is co-owned by Aviva Investors and Uttlesford District Council is home to companies like Arecor, AstraZeneca, and Illumina.
