Role: Commercial Assistant / Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Location: Cambuslang, Glasgow

McCormack Partners are searching for a proactive and detail-orientated Commercial Assistant / Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team.

You will support the commercial manager in the delivery of projects, ensuring that all contractual obligations are met and that projects and completed on time and within budget.

As the company continues to expand, it will invest in your development, and you will have the opportunity to progress to more senior positions and build your own team.

Responsibilities

Prepare monthly applications in accordance with client requirements, including site visits to check progress and materials on site.
Ensure that all certification is received as outlined in the contract and issue invoices on receipt of the certification, including inserting outstanding cash into the debtor sheet.
Maintain variations and variation registers for each project, record deviations from design and programme, and ensure that the client signs off, where possible before any additional works commencing.
Manage sub-contractors’ work, update labour trackers and orders as required, and ensure regular and controlled spending on any dayworks/variations, etc.
Manage and update the project cashflow, informing the commercial manager/finance manager of any forecast changes to maintain business cashflow accuracy.
Review contracts on receipt and advise on impacts, risks, and opportunities so they can be fully understood by the wider construction team.
Ensure that business plan procedures/CVR are setup are done prior to review, along with updated labour trackers, maintain and update on a weekly basis.

Qualifications

General understanding of construction contracts and project management
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
UK drivers licence as sites are located throughout the UK
2+ years’ experience
Knowledge of industry-specific software, such as Eque2 Construct
Accreditation in quantity surveying or similar construction-related activities
