UKWA to hold Commercial Solar Showcase

THE UK Warehousing Association (UKWA) is holding a Solar Showcase in Swindon to discuss solar power on warehouse rooftops.

The event will cover how to finance a solar project, including a special asset finance deal from SGEF.

Only 5% of UK warehouses have solar panels on the roof. Yet collectively, says UKWA, there is enough roof-space to double the UK’s capacity for renewable energy from solar power and help the country achieve its net zero ambitions.

Representatives from Solar Energy UK and the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC) will be at the event to answer questions from the audience. Delegates from Clegg Gifford will be there to outline insurance requirements, and there will be other specialists on hand to help with a variety of technical considerations.

UKWA will also launch a legal guidance note from Weightmans at the showcase, which explains some of the contractual considerations for occupiers leased warehouse properties when entering a Power Purchase Agreement.

Every UKWA member who attends the event will receive a copy of the association’s Solar Toolkit, with step-by-step guidance to help plan a rooftop solar project.

The Solar Showcase will be held on 7 September 2023 at Howard Tenens Logistics’ warehouse in Swindon. Reserve a spot at the showcase here.
