Severfield workers win 8% wage rise

Steelworkers at specialist contractor Severfield have ended three weeks of strike days after narrowly accepting a new wage offer.

Workers at the steelwork contractor’s Dalton site voted 52% in favour of the latest offer from management.

The deal sees an 8% uplift on all rates backdated from April to March 2024, plus a £900 non-consolidated cost of living payment.

The deal also includes an optional healthcare package

This amounted to an overall package value of 10.3% based on the salary of a welder.
