Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor specialising in pitched roofing and social housing projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in NHF/Repairs and schedule of rates, with a focus on social housing, pitched roof repairs, block upgrades, and school repairs, including fit-outs. The candidate must possess expertise in monthly valuations, contractor payments, requisitions, and validations sign-off, cash flow forecasting, subcontractor application certification, and measured term contracts. Additionally, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will lead a team of 2-3 graduate quantity surveyors and play a crucial role in managing and delivering framework agreements.

Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of quantity surveying activities related to pitched roofing and social housing projects
Utilise expertise in NHF/Repairs and schedule of rates to accurately assess and estimate project costs
Prepare and review monthly valuations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual requirements
Administer the payment process, including reviewing and certifying weekly payments to contractors
Oversee requisitions and validations sign-off to the end client, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to project milestones
Develop and maintain accurate cash flow forecasts, monitoring project expenditure and ensuring effective financial management
Certify subcontractor applications and valuations, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and accurate cost allocation
Provide leadership and guidance to a team of graduate quantity surveyors, supporting their professional development and ensuring high-quality work
Take the lead on framework agreements, including managing contractual obligations, monitoring performance, and driving continuous improvement
Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure effective cost control and risk management throughout projects
Stay updated on industry regulations, best practices, and emerging trends related to social housing, pitched roofing, and measured term contracts
Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to establish and maintain strong working relationships
Conduct thorough cost analysis, cost benchmarking, and value engineering exercises to optimize project outcomes
Resolve contractual and commercial issues that may arise during projects, working closely with stakeholders to find mutually beneficial solutions

Requirements

Proven experience (minimum 10 years’) as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, specialising in pitched roofing and social housing projects
Extensive knowledge and experience in NHF/Repairs and schedule of rates, with a strong understanding of social housing, pitched roof repairs, block upgrades, and school repairs, including fit-outs
Proficiency in monthly valuations, contractor payments, requisitions, and validations sign-off, cash flow forecasting, subcontractor application certification, and working with measured term contracts
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a team of graduate quantity surveyors
Excellent knowledge of framework agreements, including contract management and performance monitoring
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail
Effective communication and negotiation skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels
Sound understanding of cost control, risk management, and value engineering principles
Proficiency in relevant software and tools, such as cost estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
Relevant professional qualifications or chartership status in quantity surveying or a related field
