Russell Roof Tiles to Supply £1m MoD Redevelopment

RUSSELL ROOF TILES, the pitched roof tile manufacturer, has won a contract to supply tiles for a £1 million Ministry of Defence (MoD) redevelopment in the South.

Already underway, the project comprises 62 existing MoD homes on Norton Road in Fareham which are having a complete upgrade to bring them up to the latest standards.

A number of elements throughout the houses will be updated as well as the roofing which includes new insulation, fascias and soffits installed by Hampshire based Protec Roofing Ltd, for whom Russell Roof Tiles will be supplying tiles.

MoD Redevelopment

Estimated to be complete by Spring 2025, the improvements will ensure that the housing is compliant with latest British Standards and high quality for service families as part of the MoD’s commitment to providing accommodation for UK military families.

Michael Palmer, Area Sales Manager at Russell Roof Tiles, said: “We are very proud to be continuing to support the Ministry of Defence with its re-roofing programme. This is such a significant project, and we are happy to be delivering our market-leading and sustainable products and systems.

“By utilising its incredible expertise and knowledge of previously working with the Ministry of Defence on similar projects, the team will deliver an efficient and high level of service. We look forward to working on the development over the next 12 months.”

Previous Projects

The project is the latest in a long line of MoD contracts that Russell Roof Tiles has secured. In 2015 Russell Roof Tiles supported on the £150m Project Borona redevelopment of the MoD Stafford base, supplying 350,000 tiles for 350 service family homes – a project that also created new barracks accommodation as well as new offices, workshops, shops and leisure facilities.

In 2018 the manufacturer worked with housing partner, Lovell Partnerships Limited, supplying £1m worth of pitched tiles and accessories for over 900 homes on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire. The large-scale development was part of the Army Basing Programme, which included around 4,000 British troops returning from Germany and relocating within the UK in 2019.
