Roof Worker Dies and Second ‘Seriously Injured’ in Factory Roof Fall
A FATAL roof accident resulted in the death of one roof worker and the serious injury of a second man.
The accident took place at a bakery factory in Milton Keynes on Monday 9th October.
Witnesses located opposite the scene of the accident on Maidstone Road in Kingston, Milton Keynes said the two men were working on the roof.
Other witnesses who are workers at the Lantmannen Unibake bakery said they saw the two men fall 20 foot from the roof into a giant dough proving machine.
The roofing contractor workers were reportedly removing roof panels at the building in order that a large piece of machinery could be lifted out of the factory.
Despite all efforts, one of the roof workers was pronounced dead, while the other worker was thought to be ‘critically injured’.
Thames Valley Police were called to the bakery in the early afternoon on Monday. The police confirmed a 61-year-old man was found to be dead at the scene. Another man was airlifted to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital by the air ambulance service.
