Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol has instructed Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro) to expedite the drafting of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Chandani Chowk to Hinjewadi metro route. This directive aims to significantly bolster Pune’s metro connectivity and address persistent traffic congestion along the busy Pune-Mumbai Highway corridor.

The metro route’s strategic alignment is expected to provide efficient and sustainable transit options, particularly benefiting commuters traveling between Pune’s central business district and the prominent IT hub of Hinjewadi. Mayor Mohol emphasized the critical importance of completing the DPR promptly to facilitate the early implementation of the metro project.

This initiative reflects Pune’s urgent need for comprehensive public transport solutions to cater to its rapidly expanding population and increasing commuter demands. Once finalized, the DPR will outline key aspects such as the metro route’s alignment, proposed station locations, construction phases, and estimated project costs.
