Orb Energy Launches Groundbreaking Solar Park in Karnataka

Orb Energy, a leading player in India’s solar energy sector, has launched its inaugural ground-mounted solar park in Arsikere, Hassan district, Karnataka, boasting a capacity of 35 MW (DC). Spanning 110 acres, this park is projected to produce 52.4 million units of clean energy annually, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 45,000 tons yearly. Tailored to empower Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Orb Energy aims to develop and commission approximately 400 MW of solar parks across India for SMEs by the decade’s end, with an estimated investment of Rs 200 million during the same period.

Their innovative solar park model allows enterprises to purchase plots and own solar sub-arrays within the larger park, a concept gaining traction among SMEs in Karnataka. With 27 MW (DC) already operational across roughly 90 acres, Orb Energy foresees completing its SME-centric solar park by the middle of the current financial year. To facilitate SME ownership, the company offers a unique collateral-free, in-house financing facility with a five-year tenor, promoting swift and cost-effective transition to off-site solar solutions.

Owning an off-site solar system promises substantial reductions in electricity costs over its lifetime compared to current grid tariff rates, benefiting both SMEs and discoms. Damian Miller, Orb Energy’s co-founder and CEO, lauds the positive response from SMEs, emphasising the empowerment of businesses in controlling electricity expenses and enhancing competitiveness.
