Onduline Hosts CPD Session for Roofing Apprentices

ONDULINE Building Products, manufacturer of lightweight roofing solutions, recently visited Derwentside College to host a CPD session for roofing apprentices, highlighting the benefits of sub-roof systems.

Based in County Durham, Derwentside College works with more than 1,200 local and national employers supporting over 6,000 apprentices, including roofing, construction and engineering.

During the classroom and practical CPD session, Onduline experts provided roofing apprentices with a greater understanding of the challenges low-pitched roofs can bring and the benefits of its sub-roof system, ISOLINE LOW LINE.

Alan Bessford, Roofing Lecturer at Derwentside College, said: “We are very grateful to the Onduline team for hosting a CPD session with our roofing apprentices. Collaborations with industry leaders like Onduline provide our students with invaluable insights and skills, with these opportunities not only enhancing their learning experience but also significantly boosting their employability in a competitive market.”

Fitted under roof tiles, ISOLINE LOW LINE is a waterproofing solution that provides guaranteed watertightness to any roof, even at a pitch as low as 10 degrees for any roof tile, whether new, reclaimed or existing.

Made from approximately 50% recycled material, the lightweight bituminous sub-roof system becomes the primary waterproofing layer and is shielded from elements such as wind and rain, making it a long-lasting waterproofing solution.

Ardit Strica, Technical Manager at Onduline Building Products, said: “It was great to speak with the talented students at Derwentside College. By engaging directly with apprentices, we ensure that the latest advancements in roofing technology are accessible to those entering the profession, fostering a skilled workforce ready to meet the industry’s ever-changing needs.”
