Midland Lead Gets King’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development
MIDLAND LEAD has achieved a King’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development.
The company is one of only 252 organisations nationally to be recognised with the prestigious award.
Midland Lead, founded in 1983 and based in Derbyshire, employs 40 people and is the only UK manufacturer offering machine-cast lead sheet with an environmental product declaration (EPD). The family-run company produces lead sheet products using recycled lead for UK and overseas construction markets.
King’s Award
Boudewijn Tuinenburg, Managing Director of Midland Lead, said: “We are immensely proud to receive this prestigious award, and it is truly gratifying to be recognised in such a manner. Over the last few years, we have invested in several initiatives that have helped us move towards becoming a net zero manufacturer by 2050.”
“Our company’s commitment to building a sustainable future is essential, and this Royal endorsement serves as a motivating and inspiring force for our entire team. We remain dedicated to fostering and promoting behavioural changes for sustainability within manufacturing, internally and within the East Midlands region.”
Mark Goldby of the East Midlands Manufacturing Network added: “Midland Lead’s commitment to sustainability is truly commendable. As one of our more active members in our network it’s great to see them leading the way in integrating environmental consciousness into their products and operations.
“This recognition is well-deserved and will set them apart from their peers and I’m sure it will motivate them to keep pushing boundaries and setting new standards within the manufacturing sector – a sector that has many challenges when it comes to understanding how they can work effectively towards net zero.”
The King’s Awards for Enterprise continues the legacy of Queen Elizabeth II by recognising outstanding UK businesses. The award programme, now in its 58th year, is the most prestigious business award in the country. Recognised businesses are able to use the King’s Awards Emblem for the next five years.
Applications for King’s Awards for Enterprise 2025 open today, 6 May 2024.
