THE MEMBERSHIP base of the Metal Cladding & Roofing Manufacturers Association (MCRMA) has expanded with three new companies signing up for the first time.

Building envelope design and detailing specialist AbiCAD, independent global construction and property consultancy Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) and Powell Gee, a supplier of fasteners and fixings to the roofing, cladding and rainwater industries for 75 years, add to the depth of expertise and experience across the MCRMA’s membership, whilst also bringing their own perspectives on the future direction of the industry.

This latest boost to the association’s membership reflects an increase in the number of businesses at all stages of the metal building envelope supply chain seeking to develop their knowledge, skills, new partnerships and wider network, at a time when the industry is accommodating new safety and building performance standards.

Founded in 1997, AbiCAD is an established provider of CAD design and detailing services (including material schedules) for the building envelope. Its skilled team works to the highest professional standards, adopting strict and detailed procedures supported by regular auditing to ensure that clients receive a high quality service that is compliant with the latest CDM and building regulations.

As an independent global construction and property consultancy providing management and advice throughout the built environment, RLB offers a range of services to support clients and the supply chain in the building envelope sector. This global business joins an already highly respected group of MCRMA members providing independent roofing and cladding inspection services, which it provides alongside cost management and quantity surveying, project and programme management, asset advisory and specialist consultancy.

Powell Gee is the latest addition to the MCRMA’s membership group of component manufacturers. Serving UK and European customers, the Shropshire-based company moulds, powder coats and adds washers to a variety of building envelope fixings and, through its additional manufacturing facility in Birmingham, it also provides the construction industry with hook bolts and gutter brackets.

Collaboration and competency will define the next era of construction, and this makes it all the more important to have a diverse membership to share and develop knowledge, as well as support the MCRMA in providing CPDs and training that can help ensure everyone complies with future requirements.”
