JSW Infrastructure Acquires Navkar Corporation

JSW Infrastructure, led by Sajjan Jindal, is reported to have finalized an acquisition deal with Navkar Corporation Ltd, a key player in Mumbai’s multi-modal logistics sector. The acquisition aims to bolster JSW’s logistics business by expanding its third-party cargo operations, sources familiar with the matter revealed. While specific details such as the deal size have not yet been officially disclosed, industry insiders anticipate an announcement soon.

The board of JSW Infrastructure recently convened to discuss the acquisition, although both JSW Infrastructure and Navkar Corporation have refrained from commenting publicly on the transaction. Navkar Corporation currently operates three Container Freight Stations (CFS) situated near Mumbai, strategically located on the Mumbai-Pune highway close to Jawaharlal Nehru Port, one of India’s busiest container gateways.

These CFS facilities, located in Ajivali and Somatane villages, boast substantial capacities ranging from 25,000 to 425,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). The Somatane facility also includes a Private Freight Terminal (PFT) with two railway sidings, enhancing its logistical capabilities significantly.

Moreover, Navkar Corporation holds a Category 1 Container Train Operator (CTO) permit from Indian Railways, allowing it to operate container train services nationwide for both domestic and export-import (EXIM) trade.
