Jindal Stainless Powers India’s First Diagrid Structure

Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL), India’s leading stainless steel manufacturer, has supplied stainless steel for India’s inaugural diagrid structure, serving as the new headquarters for the United India Insurance Company Ltd (UIIC) in Chennai. Recently inaugurated by the Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, from New Delhi, this iconic building features stainless steel frames connected to a central core via lateral beams.

Situated on Mount Road in Chennai, the landmark building showcases a unique double curvature profile and incorporates earthquake-resistant and energy-efficient elements. Jindal Stainless provided around 1000 tonnes of high-quality 316L grade stainless steel for the construction of this UIIC building. Standing at 62 meters tall, the structure meets the standards set by the Indian Green Building Council and received design approval from the esteemed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and IIT Bombay.

In response to this achievement, Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless, expressed his pride in the company’s involvement in this iconic project. He commended the United India Insurance Company and the team of architects for their selection of stainless steel, emphasizing JSL’s commitment to innovation and customization to support India’s construction industry in pioneering projects.
