Housebuilder Agrees 3-Year Solar PV Deal

UPOWA HAS BEEN APPOINTED as a national supplier in a three-year deal with Barratt Developments, the country’s largest housebuilder, to deliver solar PV for their new housing developments.

UPOWA will work with eight Barratt and David Wilson Homes divisions on their Part L transition to full implementation on sites in the southern and western areas of the country.

Under the partnership, the UPOWA team will manage design, product supply, installation, and maintenance of solar PV systems to help Barratt deliver sustainable homes.

Where there is a need for roof-integrated solar panels, UPOWA will supply its Inline Solar system.

James Bull, Managing Director at UPOWA, said: “We are proud to get this deal over the line and become one of Barratt Developments’ trusted solar PV suppliers. This new partnership confirms their trust in our specialist solar product and service.”

Part L Ready

UPOWA will support eight Barratt and David Wilson Homes divisions with their solar specifications to meet the primary energy part of Part L building regulations. The UPOWA  solar PV solutions will help Barratt meet the new carbon reduction targets.

Currently, around 10% of the 180,000 new homes built in England have solar PV installed. It’s estimated that figure will rise to as much as 80% as the new Part L and the Future Homes Standards come into force from June this year.

Bukky Bird, Group Sustainability Director at Barratt Developments, said: “This new three year agreement with UPOWA will help our customers to reduce their energy use and to save money.”
