Hero Roofer Rescues Man From House Blaze

A HERO ROOFER rescued a man from a burning building after an explosion at a semi-detached house.

Kayfee Hameed, 45, from Middlesbrough, was driving along Kirkland Walk in the town when he saw the wrecked house on fire.

Rescue Mission

Stopping his car just after the explosion happened, Kayfee spotted a man trapped beneath rubble crying for help inside the blazing house.

Without hesitating, roofer hero, Kayfee ran into the building as nearby onlookers urged him not to risk his life.

Determined to carry the badly burned man to safety, Kayfee lifted the injured man onto his back, steering his way outside through the burning structure.

He laid the man on a grass area outside the house where emergency services gave first responder treatment.

Kayfee told local newspaper Teeside Live: “Everybody was on the grass over there watching. When I drove past I saw the fire at the house. I jumped out and everyone was shouting ‘don’t go, don’t go’.”

“I ran inside and I said ‘is anybody there? ‘ The man was laid down there were all rocks on his leg. He was just shocked. I told him to come closer because the fire was coming down. I put him on my back and got him out.”

Quick-thinking Kayfee also ran next door to check for any other victims.

Emergency Response

The rescued man was airlifted to hospital by Great North Air Ambulance Service.

The Air Ambulance Service reported: “Our critical care team was activated at 12.46pm to an incident in Middlesbrough. We had two doctors and two paramedics respond to the scene and they worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service to assess and treat a patient. The patient was airlifted to hospital.”

North East Ambulance Service also released a statement saying that a man suffered “severe burns” following a house explosion in Middlesbrough: “We received a call to 999 at 12.42 this afternoon to reports of a house explosion on Kirkland Walk, Middlesbrough.”

“We sent a duty officer, a clinical team leader, two emergency ambulance crews, a rapid response paramedic, a doctor, four Hazardous Area Response Teams and the air ambulance. One patient has been transported to the RVI by air with severe burns.”

Police and Cleveland Fire Brigade advised local people to stay away from the area. Engineers from Northern Gas Networks (NGN) also attended the incident to support emergency services

Hero Roofer

Roofer rescuer Kayfee Hameed demonstrated his heroic character in another incident in May 2021.
