Grand Chetak Banquet Hall: A Fusion of Elegance and Functionality
The Grand Chetak banquet hall, situated just outside the urban area of Nadiad, serves as an ideal party venue catering to the residents of Vadodara and Ahmedabad. It has quickly become a popular spot for hosting a variety of large functions, from weddings and private parties to corporate events. Designed by the talented team at Ace Associates Architects, this sprawling 1,20,000 sq ft space allows for the simultaneous hosting of multiple events. The architects have seamlessly integrated aesthetics, technology, research and development, lighting, architecture, and landscape to create a harmonious and visually stunning banquet hall.
A versatile venue
The decision to create a party venue stemmed from the owner’s original idea of constructing a mall, as the plot had been licensed for commercial use by local authorities. However, the serene location, free from noise and pollution, led to the realization that a banquet hall would be better suited for the space. The venue is strategically located with easy access to the highway between Ahmedabad and Vadodara, making it a convenient 50-minute drive from either city.
Aesthetics, technology, research and development, lighting, architecture, and landscape all played crucial roles in the integrated design of the banquet hall. Separate entrances facilitate the hosting of three different functions simultaneously, proving particularly useful during peak seasons. The spacious parking area, including VIP parking, is complemented by a 4,000 sq ft party lawn adorned with sculptures, fountains, and walkways.
The party lawn, designed for open-air events, showcases sculptures and fountains crafted to complement the surroundings. Custom-designed fountains, including one with a leaf motif in copper, add a touch of elegance to the outdoor space. Lighting and technology are integral to the design, with automatic sprinklers on the lawn reducing the need for human supervision. The covered walkway from the parking area to the banquet hall features ‘armed guard’ sculptures, adding a unique touch to the entrance.
Strength and style
The main banquet hall, covering 13,000 sq ft, stands out for its expansive design without any central columns to interrupt the space. The architects utilised advanced metal roofing, ensuring a lightweight structure that accommodates the absence of columns. With a minimum capacity of 700-800 guests, the banquet hall caters to large gatherings, making it an ideal choice for weddings, private parties, and corporate functions.
The central hall boasts metal girders for ample strength and vertical space, while a custom perforated metal screen on the facade creates a stunning illuminated pattern, seamlessly connecting indoors to outdoors. Overhangs and canopies feature metal frames overlaid with WPC sheets for a sleek aesthetic and larger spans with minimal supports. Integrated purlins support the exterior overhangs, blending seamlessly with the primary facade.
Overcoming obstacles
Addressing common challenges faced in similar projects, the architects implemented solutions based on their past experiences. Acoustics were carefully considered to eliminate echoes during musical events, and 32 chandeliers, along with colour-changing LEDs, enhance the ambience based on specific requirements. The east courtyard, available for use after sunset, has become a popular backdrop for selfies, capturing memorable moments during events.
Ventilation was a key consideration, particularly in the banquet hall where the absence of columns allows for uninterrupted airflow. To combat potential issues with fumes, an innovative concealed exhaust system was installed, ensuring fresh air and maintaining a pleasant atmosphere within the hall. The decision to incorporate live counters for food service required careful planning, resulting in a well-ventilated space.
Prioritising comfort
The architects also prioritised the comfort of guests, incorporating amenities such as dressing rooms for the bride and groom. A dedicated studio with professional lighting equipment offers a convenient space for photo shoots, adding a personalised touch to special occasions. The adjacent courtyard serves as an elegant entry point for the bride, further enhancing the overall experience for attendees.
In addition to catering to social events, the banquet hall is equipped with audiovisual facilities to accommodate corporate presentations. Restrooms are strategically located near the courtyard, providing easy access for guests. The overall design reflects a versatile approach, combining creativity, functionality, and attention to detail.
The banquet hall not only fulfils the demand for a spacious and aesthetically pleasing venue but also provides a unique and memorable experience for all those who attend events hosted in this exceptional space.
