Don & Low Launches Direct Distribution Strategy in the UK and Ireland
THE 16TH of November marks the dawn of a new era for Don & Low. Starting today, the direct distribution of Roofshield®, Reflectashield®, Frameshield®, and reflective vapour control layers, under the brand VapourTX® Thermo, to the United Kingdom and Ireland will be handled by the renowned UK manufacturer.
This is a significant shake up in the distribution of construction materials and Will Campbell, Head of Sales at Don & Low, has some intriguing information to share.
Direct Distribution
Interview with Will Campbell
Mr. Campbell, I was hoping you could provide some insight on Don & Low’s new distribution strategy.
“Don & Low has always shown an unwavering commitment to meeting the ever-evolving needs of the market. Therefore, in light of the growing demand for a more streamlined supply chain, we have taken a strategic choice to assume direct distribution responsibilities for Roofshield and our entire construction membrane portfolio.
“Don & Low designs and manufactures a number of roofing underlays, reflective and non-reflective walling membranes, vapour control layers, as well as temporary site protection materials, offering architects, housebuilders, and merchants complete building envelope solutions tailored to specific projects. This way we can provide even greater flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.”
How do Don & Low membranes differ from rivals in the construction industry, and what are the company’s strengths?
“Don & Low has been producing nonwovens for over 35 years and has over 200 years of combined experience in the technical textiles field.
“Roofshield has been an illustration of our supremacy in the construction membrane business since its inception. Created and manufactured in the UK, Roofshield has gained widespread acclaim for its exceptional performance and reliability, both of which have been rigorously tried and tested by the industry since 1996.
“Notably, Don & Low is the UK’s only vertically integrated manufacturer. We manufacture all of our construction membranes, including the component parts, from polymer pellet through to finished membrane. This guarantees that products meet the rising demand for buildings that excel in technical performance, comply with new regulatory standards, and offer consistency in quality and product performance, while also being environmentally friendly, since they are recyclable and made partly from recycled materials. We also provide unmatched customisation, with an array of prints and colours to meet diverse customer needs.
“Don & Low’s dedication to innovation extends to every step of the product development cycle; we take products from conception and design through raw material selection, sampling, and product validation to final manufacturing for product launch.”
The frequency of severe storms and rainfall events in the United Kingdom has been on the rise. Is it time to switch to newer materials? Are current ones sufficient to safeguard our projects and properties?
“Roofshield offers exceptional water resistance that has been proven by real-world use for over 25 years. We are aware that, in some extreme cases, these unusual weather conditions may have an impact on even the most robust building materials. This is why we strongly emphasise adhering to precise installation guidelines set out by Don & Low and the BBA. When followed meticulously, these guidelines significantly reduce the likelihood of encountering any challenges.
“Additionally, our R&D team in Forfar, Scotland, is continuously working on enhancing Roofshield, and our broader range, to better withstand these new extreme weather events today and in the future.”
So, does Don & Low have the capacity to assist customers in resolving technical and installation-related issues?
“Indeed, we are capable of assisting our customers in dealing with virtually any challenge and consistently achieving outstanding results. Whether it’s guidance on selecting the proper membranes for specific projects, support with U-value calculations, installation guidance, or best practices for extreme weather conditions, Don & Low’s seasoned experts go above and beyond to understand customers’ challenges and needs.
