Cladding Manufacturer and Installer Enters Administration

ALUCRAFT SYSTEMS Ltd has filed for insolvency. The Tamworth- and Rotherham-based manufacturer and installer of aluminium cladding systems worked with a number of main contractors.

Part of the Clarison Group, the company last year secured a number of high profile contracts, including the cladding of the new Everton Stadium at Bramley Moore Dock in Liverpool. Appointed by main contractor Laing O’Rourke, the company delivered the curtain walling, aluminium rainscreen and composite cladding for the project from May 2023.

PwC were appointed as the administrators on 18 March 2024 and state all the company’s existing projects will now not be completed.

In a statement, PwC says “Recent problematic contracts have resulted in claims and offsets against projects which have impacted on cash flow and profitability of the business.”

The last full accounts filed show a £18.6m turnover and £5.7m loss for the year ending December 2022. At the same time, the financial report cites a net liability of £7.5m. A figure of £3.2m owed on four “problematic contracts” was deemed “unrecoverable due to challenging trading conditions”.

Blaming the effects of high inflation hampering the ability to hedge project supply chain costs, nevertheless the directors pointed to “substantial” order books for 2023 and 2024.

Directly employing 38 people, Alucraft Systems Ltd, all employees were made redundant.

The Joint Administrators will now focus on the closure of the company’s operations which includes sites at Tamworth and Rotherham and recovery of assets for the benefit of creditors.

The remainder of The Clarison Group is not directly affected by the administration of the Company and continues to trade normally.

Alucraft’s supply chain includes industry names Sotech, Saint-Gobain, Ash & Lacy and Siderise.
