Buckingham Group Contracting rejigs board

Buckingham Group Contracting has promoted Simon Walkley to group managing director.

He takes over from Ian McSeveney who has tendered his resignation and is stepping down for long term health reasons after 17 years with the  business

To help close out specific operational matters, McSeveney will remain a company director until later this year.

Walkley joined Buckingham Group from Mouchel in 2008 to lead its rail operation becoming a director in 2014.

In April 2021, he was promoted to become deputy group managing director. This role has included overseeing three key divisions.

Among other board changes, Ian Burford is being promoted to the new role of group director of Building, while retaining a focus on the pre-construction phase in building and sports and leisure.

Burford will join the board during 2024, which reflects the importance and seniority of his expanded role.

Reporting directly to Walkley, he will be working closely with Building MD Dave Sizer, and the wider Build team in helping continue the development of Buckingham’s largest operational business.
