VolkerFitzpatrick seals £34m Kent road viaduct

Kent County Council is pressing ahead with plans for its Sturry Link Road project near Canterbury.

VolkerFitzpatrick has been confirmed for the £34m contract to build the A28 road project, which includes a 250m long viaduct.

This will be built over the Great Stour River, the river’s flood plain, and the railway line from Canterbury to Ramsgate.

As well as the constructing the bridge, which includes a dedicated bus lane and multi-user footway, VolkerFitzpatrick will deliver a new roundabout and approach roads to connect to the bridge.

Construction is scheduled to start next year and is expected to span 93 weeks, concluding in Winter 2026.
