Osborne maintenance arm sold to expanding Cardo Group

Expanding investor-backed housing maintenance specialist Cardo Group has secured its second major acquisition as it seeks to build a nationwide operation.

The firm has swooped to buy south-east based Osborne Property Services Limited (OPSL), formed by Geoffrey Osborne Group in 2006.

OPSL revenue reached over £30m in last published accounts and employs over 230 staff.

The latest deal comes four months after Cardo Group was established through the purchase of £21m turnover Welsh social housing contractor LCB Group.

LCB Group managing director, Liam Bevan, then became CEO of the newly-formed operation.

The purchased of OPSL now gives Cardo a south east social housing contractor operating from south coast to London and the home counties.

It carries out long-term repairs, voids, planned works and total asset management contracts for social housing landlords alongside a wide range of refurbishment and retrofit projects.

Vicky Fordham-Lewis, who has been at the helm of OPSL since 2020, will remain as managing director.

Bevan, said: “I am delighted to welcome everyone at OPSL to the Cardo Group.

“They come with a proud history of doing great work in our sector, and I’m confident that, with Vicky and her team, we’ll go from strength to strength.

“I look forward to working with them all. This acquisition is an important step for us as we continue on our path to build a national footprint.”

Jane Nelson, Cardo Group’s strategy director, also warmly welcomed the OPSL team and added: “This is our second acquisition in the last few months and we look forward to announcing another shortly.

“Our family of businesses is growing and so too is our ability to be part of the solution to the retrofit challenge in the social housing sector.”
