J Tomlinson went down owing £17m to supply chain

Hundreds of subcontractors and suppliers have been left holding £17m in worthless invoices following the collapse of J Tomlinson.

The Nottingham based contractor went into administration in July.

The scale of its debts has been documented in an update from administrator FRP.

Total debts were £33m with £17m of that owed to the supply chain – who as unsecured creditors are unlikely to receive a penny for the work and materials supplied.

The list of subcontractors and suppliers hit runs to 24 pages with more than 600 firms out-of-pocket.

FRP said J Tomlinson was sunk following ling-running cash flow issues and the impact of covid, by losses on a care home and student accommodation job and an adjudication decision going against it on a school site.
