27-storey Salford student tower approved

London-based developer Q Developments has got the planning thumbs up to build a 27-storey student rooms tower in Salford.

Designed by architect Broadway Malyan, the Salford Steps project will deliver nearly 540-beds for students in the area.

It will be built at the site former McDonalds’ regional headquarters building at Cross Lane, next to the University of Salford and Salford Quays.

The newly approved scheme has been scaled down from a 880-bed application rising to 40 floors first submitted in 2021.

Q Developments will contribute £1m for schemes to be determined by the city council under the section 106 agreement.
